Today, April 2, is the anniversary of Ralph Klein’s passing. It’s the fifth anniversary. It’s therefore appropriate that we take a minute and remember what a great politician looks like.
I was never sure if Ralph was inclined to be a deficit cutter. It always seemed to me that it was up in the air as to whether he was a committed “movement conservative.” Regardless, he followed the will of the people and the will of people during his time in office was to cut spending, reduce the size of government, stop the insanity of government’s choosing economic and business winners and losers, and generally to make Alberta fiscally responsible. Together with Jim Dinning, he did wonderful things. But sadly, all of that that they achieved is now a memory. The desperate physical situation that we’re moving towards is almost unbelievable.
Ralph, I miss you.
