At a recent online lecture hosted by Ralston College, Dr. Theodore Dalrymple talked about H.G. Wells book, the Time Machine. He reminded me of the Eloi and the Morlocks of that book. The Eloi elite lived on the surface of the earth, vegetarian, peaceful, effeminate, and shy. The Morlocks lived below, running the machinery of the earth; they were hard and physical people.
The Morlocks came to the surface at night and ate the Eloi. The Eloi were therefore, possessed of an existential fear of the Morlocks.
I thought, of Justin Trudeau and Laurentian Eloi contrasted to the Morlock Freedom Truckers. The Laurentian Eloi had to declare the Emergency Measures Act. The Morlocks were on the loose; they had to be killed. The threat was existential. They had to be sent back to the West from whence they came, to toil and labour for the Eloi Laurentian Elite.
