UCP members were asked, “Is there anyone else you want to lead?”
Each member could imagine their perfect candidate and vote against Jason. He could not win.
Then against all odds, he did win, more than 50% of the vote. And he got this fighting everyone that anyone could imagine. But the expectation in these contests is that you must have a substantial majority. So, though he won, he still lost.
Now we consider who might replace him. We will have to face the reality that not everyone will have their dream candidate. Now we will have time to rue.
