I am coming to believe that many Canadians do not value freedom. They do not attach any importance to a right to demonstrate or speak their minds.
Your Vote
My soul is not improved by voting for Progressives. Neither is yours.
Gagged
The worst was the RCMP physically restraining a reporter from the daily briefing by Justin, Trudeau the Second. The reporter was registered and properly certified as a member of the Parliamentary Press Gallery. But the reporter had filed a story unfavourable to the government.
Exit Here
Life is becoming difficult; I have now added a sounding of views on The Truckers Freedom Convoy to my checklist before committing to spending time with anyone.
Especially if I don’t have an easy exit.
Justin as an Eloi
At a recent online lecture hosted by Ralston College, Dr. Theodore Dalrymple talked about H.G. Wells book, the Time Machine. He reminded me of the Eloi and the Morlocks of that book. The Eloi elite lived on the surface of the earth, vegetarian, peaceful, effeminate, and shy. The Morlocks lived below, running the machinery of the earth; they were hard and physical people.
No middle ground
I am regularly surprised by friends and acquaintances who don’t share my sense of joy at the Truckers’ Freedom Convoy. Without fail, they view the invocation of the Emergency Measures Act as justified and necessary.
Disrespect
Recently, the Victoria police set up a perimeter to keep out any demonstrators supporting the Canadian Freedom Truckers. I was stopped at a roadblock and the officers demanded to know my business in the neighbourhood.
Pierre Poilievre, and the Legacy Media
Journalists in the legacy media persist in asserting that Pierre Poilievre, who has consistently preached small government and Canadian freedoms, does not have a coherent policy.
For some depressing reading
These articles by Tom Flanagan should be read, but they will not take you to a happy place, that is for sure.
I must make the effort
In Victoria, British Columbia, there was a massive show of support for the truckers. Some banners and signs agreed with a ‘no vaccine’ sentiment. They were a minority. Most of the placards simply supported freedom for Canadians and the right to speak and assemble.
