Jason Kenney and Preston Manning both want to take the possibility of separation from the rest of Canada off the Alberta conversation table.
That is like a wife of a philandering husband starting off her corrective conversation by saying, “divorce is off the table.”
The philandering will continue unabated; it may even increase with the end game threat removed.
The wife does not want a divorce; she wants a better relationship. Alberta does not want to separate; we just want a better relationship. In both cases, removing the end game removes any discipline in the conversation.
The philandering husband comparison to Ottawa is apt. With the removal of divorce and the removal of separation, the screwing increases.
