A Car Craze

The urge to purchase an electronic vehicle is a craze.

First, electricity is only the conduit between the power source and the car.  Around the world, most electric vehicles are coal-powered, some more are natural gas-powered, and some are nuclear-powered.  A few are powered by dams that have flooded forests, ruined landscapes, and caused other harms and damage.

The government subsidies are the only financial justification for such a purchase.

Production of the cars involves strip mining and child labour for the exotic chemicals needed for the batteries.

Anyone suggesting that electronic vehicles are good for the environment has denied more evidence than a sane person should, so the word craze is appropriate.
