At a recent online lecture hosted by Ralston College, Dr. Theodore Dalrymple talked about H.G. Wells book, the Time Machine. He reminded me of the Eloi and the Morlocks of that book. The Eloi elite lived on the surface of the earth, vegetarian, peaceful, effeminate, and shy. The Morlocks lived below, running the machinery of the earth; they were hard and physical people.

I am regularly surprised by friends and acquaintances who don’t share my sense of joy at the Truckers’ Freedom Convoy. Without fail, they view the invocation of the Emergency Measures Act as justified and necessary.

Recently, the Victoria police set up a perimeter to keep out any demonstrators supporting the Canadian Freedom Truckers. I was stopped at a roadblock and the officers demanded to know my business in the neighbourhood.

Journalists in the legacy media persist in asserting that Pierre Poilievre, who has consistently preached small government and Canadian freedoms, does not have a coherent policy.

These articles by Tom Flanagan should be read, but they will not take you to a happy place, that is for sure.

In Victoria, British Columbia, there was a massive show of support for the truckers. Some banners and signs agreed with a ‘no vaccine’ sentiment. They were a minority. Most of the placards simply supported freedom for Canadians and the right to speak and assemble.

Stephen Harper secured the leadership of the Canadian Alliance on that date in 2002 and the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada, again on that date, in 2004.

Two moments in the last two years:
First, Rebel News, a member of the Parliamentary Press Gallery, barred by the RCMP from participating in a news conference with the Prime Minister, on instruction from the PMO. A police action, demanded by a political office, barring a qualified (registered and named member of the press gallery) journalistic outlet.
